Bravo's Work of Art: Search for the Next Great Artist
Whose seen it??? I mean I have mixed feelings about it but I am cheering on for so many people.
I have a very unique interpretation as to what art is and how I enjoy it. But this show peeves me a bit. A number one stereotype is that the art world is snooty and the show helps build this stereotype, #1 by its judges and #2 some of its contestants. The irony is that the ones with the "tude" aren't even that great of artist :/ I feel like feeding stereotypes of the art world aren't helping it any. I mean no offense, not like DA helps it one bit as it feeds the one trick Manga art stereotype.. 10x fold but Work of Art kind of flashes it. Click the link to read more :]
In high school, there was a certain art click. I always described them as Artsy Fartsy. Safely to be considered a mixture of Punks, Stoners, "Hypothetical Boho Hippies"[I know real hippies and they weren't hippies >:'], & Scene-Kids who are now Hipsters. I was friends with some of them and luckily even though they exuded exclusivity, which they actually had you really couldn't TRULY "get" with the art kids if you weren't in the class, and for some reason watching that show newbie artist might get the same feel. I think it kind pisses of the art world a bit. Also WTF are they considering art???
Anyway as of NOW, its always subject to change, I am cheering on the following:

Stars just mean my level of rooting.
Erik's the freaking underdog and I like the morbidity of his work!!!!!!! I hope he gets further than people anticipate him to. :D Abdi is also an amazing artist who is humble, I'd even go to say Abdi is fucking epic. When I saw the space pic I was like WHAT that is epic XD. John's just cool and also humble. As for Jamie Lynn and Trong? They too have shit loads of experience but they aren't douches about it. Which I love. Jamie Lynn is just awesome, she so cute and her works are so lovely. Trong he just gets right to it, I like it XD Ryan is a so adorkable E> I love him, he is good at what he does and his simplicity speaks so many words. I also share his inner rage, aka the artist blue [extreme anxiety addition], that he expresses during the painting comparison in episode 1. And he's hot XD Mark? He's funny :] I cheer for him because he's the only digital photographer artist, but he's as a real as it gets next to Erik.
As for the rest, well obviously I am not rooting for Nao. Chicks a bitch and what she does isn't art in my eyes. It's like she's trying to pull some Yoko Ono shit and failing. Well fuck that really. Only Yoko can do Yoko, and that was already a hit or miss :/ I did root for Judith originally but she's too snooty too. She thinks she's hot shit, and though her stuff is SOMETIMES really awesome, it ain't all that great to be bitching out others. Jaclyn's a slut. Period. Miles? He's cute I guess, I dunno about his work though As for Peregrine and Nicole I am indifferent. I think they are okay but nothing so astounding that I can really root for. Then again I wont lie, I am really critical towards women, in every aspect of art. So I guess I am being a bit of bitch there :'
Hmm anyway check it out to see what I mean. I may or may not follow it depending on my mood but seriously, maybe I should have a On The For The Real Talk Segment about what is art? meh
